Economy, lifestyle and awareness driving consumption of nonwoven items in India

Mr. Johann Philipp Oskar Dilo is a post graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Technische University, Darmstadt - Germany. He started his career at Oskar Dilo Maschinenfabrik KG in 1980 and is the President of DILO Group of companies since 1988. He is currently engaged in planning and directing all aspects of the business activities of the company’s operations worldwide. Dilo Systems is the leading supplier of complete nonwovens lines. Since the formation of Dilo System Group, over 200 lines have been supplied worldwide. Dilo is specialized in the field of staple fibre web forming and consolidation technology, needle-punch technology and also supply lines for thermo bonding and water-entangling (Spunlace) together with partners. Dilo Systems engineers lines for any type of fibre, working width, weight and field of application including floor and wall coverings, household wipes, personal and baby care wipes, medical and cosmetic products, synthetic leather, mattress and bedding pads, technical felts for automotive applications, heat and sound insulation, geotextiles, filtration felts, paper machine clothing felts and any other staple fibre application.

TT: How do you foresee the outlook of Nonwovens Industry in India in 2012- 2013?

The Nonwoven Industry in India is poised to take a quantum leap in coming years. We see strong positive vibrations in the market, investments will progress slow but in systematic way. Many companies are making themselves strengthened in terms of Product Profile and Technical Competencies.

 
TT: What are the missing links for India in this field ? Any recommendations in policy measures for enhancing investment in this sector?

It is the economy, lifestyle and awareness, mainly responsible for enhancing the consumption of Nonwoven Products and India is growing. Off course, mandatory regulations will boost up the entire Industry to a big extent.

TT: What applications are being focused by DILO group in India? What new technologies are being offered in this field?

DILO is a very well established group in the Nonwoven Machinery field and we are one of the most recognized system suppliers to the Nonwoven Industry world over and catering to practically all the segments of the Industry. We are certainly capable of addressing to the varied need of Indian Industry also.

TT: Joint Ventures seems to be the current trend worldwide. What is your view on technology transfer from developed economies to developing economies?

Yes, it is the current trend in the Industry, and it is to the benefit to the user Industry. I am seeing many of our customers from Europe and USA are setting up their plants in India and other countries through a local partner and this must be encouraged by respective governments and this is helping the growth of economy in a large way.

TT: Any expectations from the forthcoming budget for this industry?

Governments across the world should look into the betterment of Economy and end users. Imports should be made easier. Incentives should be continued by Government to boost Morales of the Technical Textile Industry in India.
