About plasters

Plaster is extensively used as a hold for broken bones; a bandage impregnate with plaster is dampen and then wrapped around the injured limb, setting into a close-fitting yet easily detached tube, known as an orthopedic cast; though, this is gradually being substitute by a fibreglass assortment.

Plaster is also used inside radiotherapy when making halt casts for patients. Plaster bandages are used when assembling an impression of the patients head and neck, and liquid plaster is used to fill the intuition and produce a plaster bust.

In dentistry, plaster is used for escalating casts or models of oral tissues. These diagnostic and working models are typically made from dental stone, a stronger, harder and denser offshoot of plaster which is manufactured from gypsum under pressure. Plaster is also used to invest or flask wax dentures, the wax being subsequently removed and substitute with the ultimate denture base material that is treat in the plaster cast.
