ATIRA to participate in conclave on technical textiles

Ashok Bhuyan, technical manager-composite, at Ahmedabad Textile Industry’s Research Association (ATIRA) will be a panel member for discussion on establishing standards in composites at the 4th National Conclave on Standards for Technical Textiles. Textiles secretary Raghvendra Singh shall be addressing the conclave to be held on February 21 in New Delhi.

After the successful completion of three editions of National Conclave on Standards for Technical Textiles, FICCI jointly with the ministry of textiles and Bureau of India Standards (BIS) is organising the 4th edition of the conclave.

Key objectives of the conclave are: discussing formation of new and necessary standards for Meditech, Protech, Geotech, Buildtech, Composites and Speciality Fibres; making industry and standard setting bodies to understand user perspective; benchmarking Indian standards with global standards; checking sub-standard imports; and acting as a catalyst for formulation of latest standards.

The conclave will discuss the standards required for various technical textiles like drapes and gown, sanitary napkins, baby and adult diapers, sanitary napkin incinerator, bullet resistant jacket, BR helmet, BR shield, FR textiles, glass fibre, aramid fibre, carbon fibre, nylon 66 and their products, geogrids, geomembranes and geobags.

Discussions at the conclave would be spread across four sessions, viz. Standards for security & safety, Standards for clean and healthy India, Standards for green energy and aviation, and Standards for infrastructural applications.

Surina Rajan, director general, BIS, shall also be addressing the delegates during the conclave. Key speakers from various user departments besides those from industry are: Brig S Sanjay, Brig EM (GS&C), Indian Army; RK Pandey, member – Projects, National Highways Authority of India; Surg R Adm Sharad Bajpai, additional director general, Armed Forces Medical Services (Equipment and Stores); Dr RK Bajaj, Scientist G - deputy director general (Standardization), BIS; Nihar Ranjan Dash, joint secretary, Ministry of Textiles; Dr RK Elangovan, deputy director general, Directorate General Factory Advice Service & Labour Institutes; and Dr Ramakant Singh, director, The Directorate General of Civil Aviation, DGHS.
