Arunachal Pradesh will soon get a composite textile park of its own. Smriti Irani, the Union textiles minister, has agreed to sanction this park for the state. The minister has promised to offer support to the state government in the form of a group of experts for preparing the detailed project report and running the centre after it is established.

In a meeting with Pema Khandu, chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Irani said that facilities for skill development, export of finished handicrafts as well as product and design upgradation will be included in the upcoming park, according to media reports.

On the question of assistance to explore the usage of geotextiles to prevent frequent landslides in the state, the Union minister asked the state government to get vulnerability mapping done and submit a proposal to the ministry. Irani said she will get this proposal sanctioned at a subsidised cost. (KD)
