Composites UK, the trade association supporting the UK composites industry, organised a site visit for 20 delegates to A C Marine & Composites (ACM&C) in Gosport, UK, which offers innovative solutions to unique manufacturing challenges that push the boundaries of composite technology, on February 9, 2017, giving them an insight into the company’s facilities.

ACM&C specialises in the manufacture of composite components with a customer centric focus. The company joined the association in mid-2016 and immediately saw the benefit of hosting a site visit with assistance from Composites UK. At the site visit, ACM&C showcased its new manufacturing facilities, taking guests on a guided tour of its 22,000 sq ft site. The facilities are custom-made with a dust free ethos that has been heavily embedded into its culture. Specific equipment, such as its ply cutter with 6 metres conveyorised cutting length and resign injection machine, were tailored to ACM&C needs by the likes of Assyst Bullmer and Composites Integration.

Claire Whysall, communications manager for Composites UK said, “We help member companies in opening up their doors to potential new suppliers and customers who they may not have reached before. Working with us means they receive a wider reach when publicising the event enabling them to start conversations with the right people.”

Katinka Burmester, commercial director at ACM&C said, “An open day, in partnership with Composites UK, was an invaluable way to showcase our capabilities and new facilities to a wider audience. The interest in the company and turnout was exceptional, with suppliers and potential customers flying in from Europe to attend. It’s something that we wanted to do for a long time, however, given the nature of our work and associated non-disclosure agreements, the timing had to be right. Composites UK were fantastic in accommodating our schedule and tailoring the day to our target market.” (GK)
