R-Tech invests in Zwick’s composites testing tech

R-Tech Materials’ polymer and composites testing laboratory has invested in a Zwick 250kN universal testing machine – the first of its kind in the UK to run on the latest testXpert III software. The machine is to be aligned to aerospace standards and will enable R-Tech to carry out more complex testing and increase its composites testing capacity.

Metyx Composites to showcase new textiles at JEC 2017

Metyx Composites will showcase its latest high performance Eglass, aramid and carbon fibre technical textile products in its range of RTM, multiaxial and woven fabrics. Porcher Industries, Airbus Helicopters showcase H160

The first cutting-edge civil helicopter with a composite structure, H160, is being showcased at JEC world in Paris. H160 is lighter, more robust and resistant to corrosion and fatigue, and has reduced maintenance needs due to its composite body. The aircraft is the result of collaboration between Airbus Helicopters and Porcher Industries.

A 1.5 megawatt-Atlantis Resources tidal turbine has been installed at the MeyGen site in the Pentland Firth. The AR1500 turbine has hit full power and is already exporting to the grid. Its three rotor blades have been manufactured by AC Marine & Composites. The Pentland Firth is a strait separating Orkney Islands from Caithness in Scotland's north.

A single-handed Olympic class Laser dinghy, which raced at the Rio 2016 Olympics, is all set to enthrall visitors at JEC World 2017, an international composites event in Paris. SGL Group renews LCC endowment agreement

Germany’s leading carbon company, SGL Group, has announced that the company has renewed its commitment to endowing the Chair of Carbon Composites (LCC) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), which began eight years ago. The agreement for a six-year extension was signed by TUM president Wolfgang A. Herrmann and the SGL Group’s CEO, Jurgen Kohler.
