Cobra International, one of the largest OEM manufacturers of composite goods for water sports, automotive, marine and civil engineering, is mass producing OC-1 composite canoes for leading outrigger canoe brand ARE Tahiti. It has already shipped first 36 canoes to ARE Tahiti. The next ARE project to enter mass production at Cobra will be the V-1 canoe.

The Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology has developed a new structural strengthening process using a non-combustible carbon textile grid and cement mortar. It can double the load-bearing capacity of structurally deficient concrete structures, increase their lifespan threefold, and reduce construction costs by about 40 per cent.

The Teijin Group has become part of the AZL Partner Network for Lightweight Production Technology, a cross-industry network for joint business development and technology development. The NCC (National Composites Centre) has joined hands with Network Rail to investigate, design and build a composite footbridge. Under the partnership, Network Rail has become a Tier One Member of the NCC - the first rail infrastructure company to do so. Merseyside-based Marine Specialised Technology (MST) has chosen Norco as its main composite supplier for a £9.9 million contract with the UK Ministry of Defence. The contract is to construct two new vessels to replace the interim Gibraltar Squadron Fast Patrol Crafts. Construction of the two boats began in July and will be complete in about 18 months.

AIT Bridges, a division of Advanced Infrastructure Technologies (AIT), a designer of composite bridge systems and structural components for commercial construction, has supplied the first composite arch bridge system to the West Coast, Washington.
