Huesker Inc., one of the world’s leading manufacturers of geosynthetics, is set to expand its Cleveland County’s agricultural and industrial facility, with support from the Cleveland County Economic Development Partnership (CCEDP).

With this proposed expansion, Huesker Inc. plans to create approximately 20 new jobs, with average wages exceeding Cleveland County’s wage standard. The company will also be making significant improvements to the existing 50,000 square foot facility by constructing an additional 100,000 square feet, which will give them a total of 150,000 square feet of manufacturing, warehouse, and office space. Total project cost will include a new investment of approximately $8,500,000, which will expand the facility and purchase new machinery or equipment, according to a press release.

Cleveland County and the City of Shelby jointly collaborated to provide Huesker Inc. with financial incentives that would be applicable to them as a result of the proposed expansion project thereby, ensuring the creation of a system through which entrepreneurs, local businesses, and government officials can increase their investment in the community.

Kristin Fletcher, executive director of the CCEDP, said, “The CCEDP works to actively recruit new industry and create in Cleveland County a healthy and diverse environment for existing, expanding, and new businesses. It is our pleasure to announce the expansion of Huesker Inc., which is currently located in Shelby, North Carolina. Huesker Inc. is an excellent partner to CCEDP and truly understands the impact of their expansion to our mission to promote the county as a single economic entity.”

Sven Schroer, CEO of Huesker said, “Making a strong, lasting connection includes much more than manufacturing a diverse range of highly engineered products that connect to the world’s application needs. We believe a strong, lasting connection also applies to our employees, our trade partners, our customers, and our community at large. We are pleased to be expanding our operations in Cleveland County.” (GK)
