Mitsui Hygiene Materials (Thailand), a manufacturer and distributor of nonwovens and breathable films for use in premium diapers, has successfully expanded capacity of breathable films by 4,200 tons per annum. The capacity expansion has been undertaken looking at the growing demand for breathable films, throughout East and Southeast Asia.

Mitsui Hygiene, which is a division of Japan headquartered Mitsui Chemicals, earlier operated a breathable films production facility with capacity of 6,700 tons per year. With the expansion, the capacity of the plant is now 10,900 tons.

According to the company, demand for Japan-made premium baby diapers and spread of premium diapers in Southeast Asia have grown significantly and the demand is expected to continue. (AR)
