In order to support the fast growing India glass fibre market, which is growing at double digit growth rates, US based Owens Corning is investing $110 million in expanding capacity at its Indian composites facility. The company will invest in a 80,000 ton glass melter at the Indian plant, which is expected to start operations in early 2018.

According to the company, its Indian plant has been operating at high capacity utilisation levels for the past three years, since the India market for glass fibres has been growing at a fast pace.

“This substantial investment in our Indian business, demonstrates our confidence in the strength of the composites market and our continued commitment to our composites customers in both India and globally,” Arnaud Genis, composite solutions business president said. (AR)
