SCA completes acquisition of BSN Medical

Sweden headquartered SCA has completed the acquisition of BSN Medical, which manufactures and markets wound care, compression therapy and orthopaedic products. SCA paid €1,400 million for the acquisition and also took over debt of approximately €1,340 million. SCA expects the acquisition to be accretive to its earnings from the very first year.
BSN Medical will be included in SCA’s Personal Care business area and in 2016, BSN Medical’s sales amounted to €850 million and adjusted EBITDA stood at €210 million.
The acquisition is expected to realise annual synergies of around €30 million, fully effective within three years of closing, while restructuring costs are expected to total around €10 million. (AR)
