Glatfelter and Dreamweaver win award

April 11, 2017 - United States Of America

Glatfelter's composite fibres business unit, in partnership with Dreamweaver International, has won an award for its Dreamweaver Gold 20 product in the category of the "best finished product made from, or incorporating nonwovens". The award was presented at the INDEX 17 nonwovens exhibition in Geneva. There were eight categories of awards.

Dreamweaver and Glatfelter have developed Dreamweaver Gold 20, a lithium ion battery separator made from a combination of nanofibres and microfibres whose thermally stable materials are designed to prevent self-ignition. The new cost-effective design delivers the normal electrical performance that is typically achieved with electrode materials in the battery, and provides enhanced product safety due to its thermal stability.

"The team is very proud and excited for the future of this product as we work through the qualification process," said Martin Rapp, senior vice president and business unit president, composite fibres.
