India’s Aroo develops ECWCS & defence clothing for Indian army

Aroo is the first defence start-up that creates the intellectual property in specialised defence clothing and gear for the Indian Army. Aroo was started by Rohit Bedi and Munish Hinduja, in the defence space for apparel and gear. The company is developing ECWCS (Extreme Cold Weather Clothing System) and other specialised defence clothing for the army.

US’ Avient Corporation to acquire DSM Protective Materials

Avient Corporation, a leading provider of specialised and sustainable material solutions, has announced that it has entered into an agreement with Royal DSM to purchase the DSM Protective Materials business (including the Dyneema brand) (the Dyneema business). The purchase price of $1.485 billion is subject to certain customary adjustments.

NUS researchers develop composite film reducing heat stress by 40%

A team of researchers from the National University of Singapore (NUS) has developed a novel super-hygroscopic material that enhances sweat evaporation within a personal protective suit, to create a cooling effect for better thermal comfort for users such as healthcare workers and frontline officers. This composite film reduces heat index by 40 per cent.
