Manufacturer of technical fabrics Pertex said apparel brands Rab and Montane have both introduced new Pertex Shield fabrics in their Spring/Summer 2016 ranges.

“The Air Jacket from Montane is highly versatile lightweight mountain shell using Pertex Shield AP, our most advanced waterproof and breathable fabric,” a press release from Pertex informed.

According to Pertex, the Pertex Shield AP uses an air-porous membrane with an incredibly high concentration of evenly sized and spaced pores, allowing moisture to escape whilst remaining durably waterproof.

Rab has introduced their revised Flashpoint Jacket to feature the new super light version of Pertex Shield+, its lightest ever waterproof and breathable fabric.

“The new Pertex Shield+ uses a 3-layer construction, combining a 7-denier face fabric with an incredibly thin 7-micron membrane and a 7-denier backer, to provide highly breathable waterproof protection,” it added.

“The Rab Flashpoint Jacket is a fully featured technical outdoor jacket that offers an ultimate balance of weight and performance,” the company stated.

Montane has also adopted its new super lightweight version of Pertex Shield+ and has been used in both the Minimus 777 Jacket and the Minimus 777 Pull-on.

Pertex further added that the Montane Minimus 777 Pull-on is supremely light shell designed for mountain trail running where weight saving is essential. (AR)
