Advanced composites manufacturer, Teledyne CML Composites, has become one of the UK’s first companies to complete an audit on the compliance requirements of the new AS9100 Rev D. The audit was successfully done with no Non-Conformances identified. Recently introduced, AS9100 Rev D is built on the latest quality management system standard ISO 9001:2015.

The drivers of AS9100 Rev D are the changes found in ISO 9001:2015, along with aerospace additions and other International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) standards.

Released in October 2016, the transition period to AS9100 Rev D is to be completed by September 2018. The new standard incorporates a greater focus on leadership, risk, managerial accountability, product safety, counterfeit parts and human factors. Other changes reflecting the movement of clauses from the process model structure in AS9100 Rev C to the plan-do-check-act (PDCA) structure of AS9100 Rev D.

General manager John Toner explained, “The decision to adopt the new AS9100 Rev D standard early on reflects the importance to Teledyne CML Composites of having in place the necessary procedures that enable us to supply high quality products to our customers and maintain the long-term growth ambitions of the company. We are pleased to be one of the first companies in the United Kingdom to receive this accreditation by BSI and thrilled with the style in which we achieved this. To receive the accreditation to the AS9100 Rev D standard with zero non-conformances and the maximum PEAR (Process Effectiveness Assessment Report) score of 5 is quite an achievement.”

The Teledyne CML Composites performance during the AS9100 Rev D implementation is a reflection of the company’s commitment to providing quality parts and components for multiple programmes and its dedication to continue meeting and exceeding customer standards. (SV)
