Non-woven fabrics are not made by conventional weaving orknitting process, but are composed of ultra fine continuous fibres made fromthermoplastics which are randomly laid to a web onto a conveyor belt and subsequentlybonded together. They have the characteristics such as high liquid retentioncapacity due to high void content, high wear and tear resistance and highstrength to weight ratio.

One of the techniques to manufacture non-woven fabric isSpunbonding. Spunbond fabrics are produced by depositing extruded, spunfilaments onto a collecting belt in a uniform random manner followed by bondingthe fibers.
