According to World Health Organization, Road accidents are aworldwide problem and now results in over, 1.2 million people die every yearfrom road crashes all around the globe. Occupant restraints, is the bestsolution such as seat belts and air bags, are highly effective in preventingdeath and injury from traffic collisions. Seat belts are easy to use, effectiveand inexpensive means of protection in an accident. Seatbelts are expected toreduce the overall risk for serious injuries in crashes by 60-70% and the riskfor fatalities by about 45 percent. According to a MarketResearch firm, the market for all types of narrow fabrics is estimated at US $2.4 billion in 2005. This is projected to grow at about 3.6% per annum during2005 to 2010.


  1. Domestic Market for Seat belt:


The market of seat beltwebbings accounts for 10% of the market of automotive seat belts in value terms.The demand for seat belt webbings and other rigid webbings is expected to growat 10% per annum. The potential market for seat belts webbing in 2012-13 isestimated at ` 22.1 crore up from `10.63 crore in 2007-08. In volumeterms, the domestic usage of seat belt webbing is expected to grow from 10.6million meters in 2007-08 to 21.3 million meters in 2012-13. The growth in theseat belts usage is expected to be more than the overall growth in passengercars due to the stronger growth of the high-end cars with more seat-belts. The domestic production of seat belt webbings is around 4.3 million meters.
