Introduction:

There are three major bondingtypes, chemical bonding / thermal bonding/ mechanical bonding (needlepunching). The development of the past few years has shown that the share ofthermally bonded webs is growing steadily. Thermalbonding is the most popular method of bonding used in nonwovens manufacture. Itoffers high production rates because bonding is accomplished at high speed withheated calendar rolls or ovens. Thermal bonding process has been usedsuccessfully with a number of thermoplastic fibers. Among the various types ofthermal bonding, point bonding is the most widely used technique.
