American & Efird (A&E), a leading manufacturer and distributor of industrial and consumer sewing thread, embroidery thread, and technical textiles, has unveiled Anefil Poly using Repreve. The sustainable, continuous-filament, polyester sewing thread uses Repreve fibre made from recycled drinking bottles and is available in a comprehensive colour range.

The thread provides manufacturers, brands, and retailers the ability to complete their respective non-apparel sustainability stories with the manufacturing of environmentally, responsible products. The new eco-friendly thread product is ideal for the sewing of everything from automotive and footwear applications to luggage and handbags.

Chris Alt, senior vice president sales said, “A&E recognised the lack of options for an eco-friendly, performance sewing thread. A&E’s new Anefil Poly using Repreve fills the need for sustainable sewing thread within a number of market segments including footwear, automotive, and outdoor products.”

In addition to Anefil Poly using Repreve, A&E has also formally introduced two new, innovative product offerings this month. The first is REPEL, a water repellency option for every sewing and embroidery thread, and specialty yarn A&E produces. The second, introduces a smaller thread size of Anefil Reflector, A&E’s reflective sewing thread, for sewing in embroidery applications. (GK)
