German companies CFK Valley eV and Carbon Composites eV, are merging under the new name Composites United eV, expanding their global network for fibre-based lightweight construction. The merger was decided on February 2, 2019 by two general meetings, unanimously and without dissenting vote. The new association will be headquartered in Berlin, Germany.

With some 400 members and international affiliates in Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Japan, South Korea, China, and India, Composites United eV will become the world’s largest fibre-based multi-material lightweight construction network, according to a press release by Hannover Messe.

As the Europe-wide network of excellence for carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP), CFK Valley eV covers the entire process chain, from training through technological development and recycling. More than 100 German and international companies and research institutes are members of the Stade-based association.

As a group of companies and research facilities, Carbon Composites eV focuses on the value chain of high-performance fibre composites. The company headquartered in Augsburg, centers on the ‘marketable high-performance fibre composite structures’ product group, primarily fibre composite structures with plastic or ceramic matrices.

The existing Augsburg and Stade offices of CFK Valley and Carbon Composites eV, will continue to operate and will be responsible for the professional management of the association’s activities.

Both CFK and Carbon Composites will display their products at Hall 5, Stand B18 at the Hannover Messe tradefair in Hanover, Germany to be held from April 1-5, 2019. (PC)
