Finland’s Ahlstrom-Munksjo has announced the appointment of Emmanuelle Picard as executive vice president (EVP) of the building materials division, effective September 26, 2022. With a multi-year career within the building materials industry, Picard is well-equipped to lead the established division and pursue the strategic objectives of Ahlstrom-Munksjo.

As a member of the executive management team, she will bring valuable industry experience and insight into the building material business development, which will support Ahlstrom-Munksjo in achieving its vision of becoming the preferred sustainable specialty materials company. She joins the company directly from the position of managing director at Wipak’s plastic packaging business. She has previously worked at Saint Gobain, Imerys, and ITW construction, clearly illustrating her profile as highly experienced in a B2B setting with sustainable development ambitions, the company said in a media statement.

Recently, Ahlstrom-Munksjo announced the next step in its strategy execution, building a stronger company for a sustainable future and capturing growth opportunities. Ahlstrom-Munksjo’s strategic ambition for 2025 is to become the leader in combining fibres into performance materials that serve the company’s purpose to purify and protect, with every fibre, for a sustainable world.

The group will serve five growing and distinctive end markets to further enhance its competitive advantages and enhance value creation for its stakeholders. The five divisions are: filtration, food and consumer packaging, healthcare, building materials, and technical materials. The divisions will be supported by global functions and centres of excellence for scale, synergies, and excellence.

“I am excited to welcome Picard to the executive management team of Ahlstrom-Munksjo as the new EVP of building materials. I look forward to the valuable insights and knowledge that she will bring to the company. Her experience of working with sustainability within the construction sector will be a great asset in our continued strategy execution,” president and CEO, Hans Sohlström, said.
