Following the hugely successful inaugural event last year in Dresden, Germany, the ITMA Future Materials Awards returns to ITMA 2015 being held in Milan, Italy from November 12-19, 2015.

According to a WTIN press release, the industry leading awards recognise innovation and achievement right across the technical textiles industry.

“It comes with 19 dedicated categories providing competition for all end-use sectors for technical textiles as well as materials experts, product developers and designers,” it said.

Categories include including best innovations in sportswear, protective textiles, industrial textiles and medical textiles and entries are open for all awards until July 31, 2015.

An esteemed panel of judges drawn from across the industry will again take on the task of rigorously weighing up all the entries.

The panel welcomes several new members for 2015, including professor Asa Barber from the Materials Division at UK’s University of Portsmouth and Adidas group director for Materials Sustainability & Innovation, Steve Richardson.

Cotton Incorporated has agreed to join as a new Platinum Sponsor, with ITMA maintaining the headline sponsorship.

The organisers have launched a new and improved website for 2015 and offers all the need-to-know details on the Awards including a full list of categories, entry guidelines, online entry forms and details of the grand ceremony taking place in Milan on November 16, 2015.

World Textile Information Network (WTIN), publisher of international technical textiles magazine Future Materials, launched the FM Awards to recognise success in textile innovation and celebrate the essential work of the many businesses which support the industry.

WTIN managing director Mark Jarvis said, “The inaugural Awards in Dresden in 2014 were such a resounding success, and so well received by the industry, that we could not wait to get started on planning an even bigger, better and more exciting event for 2015.”

“With ITMA as our headline sponsor, 2015 presents the perfect opportunity to house the Awards alongside the biggest event in the textiles industry calendar, at ITMA Milan,” he noted.

“We know this will further raise the profile of what is already proving to be a bench-mark event for those involved in technical textiles to be judged and rewarded alongside their peers,” Jarvis observed.

He added, “We are really excited to see the level of entries and competition this year and of course to throw the party of the year to celebrate these industry innovators in Milan.” (AR)
