High-density polyethylene (HDPE) price, CFR far east (FE) Asia, is expected to rise reasonably in coming months due to increasing product demand across the world as countries vaccinate their people and remove restrictions. The price of crude oil has also been increasing with the rising demand which helped sustain the price of its derivatives.

Price of HDPE may also go up by the end of this year as China controlled its COVID cases which were very high in April 2021. HDPE is a popular choice for nonwovens.

The price of HDPE, CFR (cost and freight) FE Asia, was $931.43 per mt in January 2021, which rose considerably by 24.63 per cent to reach $1,160.87 per mt in March 2021. But it dropped in Q2 due to a sudden rise in COVID cases in China and imposition of lockdowns. The price had declined to $1,020.45 per metric ton in June 2021, according to Fibre2Fashion's market analysis tool TexPro.

However, it is anticipated to shoot up again to reach $1,083.23 per mt in December 2021, recording a rise of 6.15 per cent over the price in June 2021.
