Nonwovens conference focuses on technological innovation

The recently concluded International Conference on Nonwoven Technical Textiles focused on technological innovation. The three-day event helped the participants to know about the advanced nonwovens production process and technology, functional requirements, market potential, standards, raw materials used and applications in various industries.

The conference organised by Indian Technical Textile Association on the theme – Nonwovens for High-Performance Applications — saw presentations on various topics by eminent speakers from the industry.

The programme received overwhelming response from the industry on various technical sessions focusing on growth potential and latest technology to nonwoven industry, filtration, coating and protective textiles, medical, hygiene products and standardisation and geotextiles and product development opportunities.

Some of the speakers were Ravishankar Gopal, K’s Technical & Management Consultants, Dr. PKC Bose from Saertex India Pvt. Ltd., Viren Mehta, Group CEO, KP Tech Nonwoven & Bookmyparts.com, Senthil Rajan from Arvind Ltd., A. B. Telesang from Welspun India and Dr. Ketankumar Vadodaria, SITRA from among others.

Gopal emphasised about the emerging technologies for Nonwoven Industry. He highlighted the different technologies i.e. Spunmelt – Spunbond, Spunlace, Thermobond, Needlepunch, Wetlaid, Airlaid, and others. Talking about the advanced technical textiles, Bose highlighted its major applications in wind energy, automobiles, marine, aerospace, industrial and infrastructure. He briefed about the non-crimp fabrics, difference between non-crimp and crimp fabrics and its advantages. Rajan presented on high performance nonwoven filtre media for hot gas filtration. He spoke about the advanced materials like FR, woven filtration fabrics, industrial belting fabrics, nonwoven felts, etc. and also the importance of high performance NW filtre media. While Vadodaria explained about the medical textiles used in the patient (implantable), outside the patient (non-implantable), near the patient (devices & systems) and for the patient (Hygiene).
