PRO claims to design fastest trial wheel from TeXtreme

Sweden based Oxeon AB, a producer of next generation carbon fiber material said its materials have been used in producing what PRO, a designer and creator of bicycle-related products claims to be the fastest time trial wheel in the world.

The 3-spoke wheel reinforced with TeXtreme Spread Tow fabrics and co-created with Team Sky, was unveiled at the opening team time trial at the Vuelta a España.

"We used a mix of high level uni-directional fibers and Spread Tow fabrics, which helped keep the weight down and give a match in appearance with our rear TeXtreme disc wheel", says Leon Van Strien, Product Manager of PRO.

Oxeon AB says its TeXtreme products are next generation carbon fiber material to be used in the bicycle industry based on using Spread Tows instead of yarns to achieve ultra light weight and high-performance products.

It adds that companies utilizing the TeXtreme technology in general achieve better properties on weight, stiffness, strength, etc. compared to those using other carbon fiber materials.

PRO has earlier utilised TeXtreme materials successfully in bike disc wheels. (AR)
