Rock West Composites, providing composite products for variety of markets and customers, has opened new production facility in Tijuana, Mexico. Rock West Composites has facilities in San Diego, California, Salt Lake City and Utah. The grand opening event included a tour of the facilities, a presentation on business objectives, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Carlos Arganda, the director of operations for the plant, conducted the tour. Included were the production areas for manufacturing processes including resin infusion, bladder molding, roll wrapping, wet layup, and precision composite assembly. Also toured were the climate-controlled area for clean manufacturing, the loading docks, and a new paint and grinding booth under construction.

Jim Gormican, CEO of Rock West Composites, presented information on the growth path for this international venture and how it supports expansion of US operations. "By opening this facility, we are able to reduce costs and that will help keep us competitive for certain types of programs. As we rapidly grow, it also allows our US divisions to focus on the development work at which they excel for Mexico, and it increases jobs in all locations. It’s a win/win." (RR)
