Simavita, a developer of smart, wearable and disposable platform technologies for the global diaper industry, has got CE Mark approval for Smartz. This means Smartz, a low- cost sensing technology, meets the required standards and can be sold throughout the European Economic Area. The technology used in diapers provides accurate, real-time data.

“Achieving CE Mark enables Simavita to commercialise our disruptive technology for adults and infants across the European Economic Area as well as in other regions that recognise CE Mark,” said Michael Spooner, executive chairman of Simavita. “Smartz delivers significant competitive advantage to major retailers, distributors and global diaper manufacturers. Importantly, Smartz addresses many of the issues faced in Australia and internationally in the care of the elderly including delivering on significant efficiency gains, whilst dramatically improving overall care standards.”

Smartz is designed for extensive use in both adult and infant markets. It is a low-cost sensing technology incorporated into diapers at the time of manufacture and provides accurate, real-time data and information to parents and carers at home, in aged care or child care facilities. It is the culmination of 10 years’ research and development and is built around cloud-based systems and app based alert technology, together with the latest in security and data management.

Smartz alerts include wetness, dehydration, movement including agitation and restlessness, falls, ambient temperature, and pressure sore management for the elderly. Smartz is an intuitive, easy to use technology providing peace of mind to mums, dads and carers.

Simavita no longer manufactures product, nor buys or holds inventory. Rather, its business model is to license its technology and to deliver service to its customers. The company is in discussions with a number of major companies regarding the patented technology.
