US' B&O showcases fluorine-free DWR at IFAI EXPO 2022

Chemical manufacturer Bolger & O’Hearn, Inc Specialty Chemicals (B&O) has introduced its new high performance, fluorine-free durable water repellent (DWR), Shell-Tech Free at the ongoing IFAI Expo 2022. The event will be held until October 14, 2022, at the Charlotte Convention Center in downtown Charlotte, North Carolina, US.

The B&O team will also showcase a number of new chemistries ideal for military, outdoor, workwear, and technical applications, including Stormproof, Breathable OmniBloq DWR, and Shell-Tech Dual Action, a powerful C6 that repels both water and soil, according to a press release by B&O. The team’s booth — A312 — is located in the Advanced Textiles section of the show floor.

Also at the show, Frank Keohan, B&O’s senior technology manager, will give a presentation on transitioning from traditional fluorine-based durable water repellents to fluorine-free DWRs. Keohan’s classroom presentation will take place today at the Convention Center.

B&O frequently develops new chemical products, most of which are water-based, using environmentally-compliant materials and technologies. The company is a bluesign system partner and committed to a carbon-free future.
