Compotech, a composite manufacturing company, is the finalist in three categories of the JEC Innovation Awards 2019. Compotech will be showcasing its award projects along with a range of advanced composite solutions, which demonstrate its unique manufacturing technology and applications knowledge, at the JEC World exhibition, Paris, from March 12-14.

The first nomination for Compotech in aerospace category is for its application with the composite aileron structure, said a media release by the company. The aileron structure, developed for Aero Vodochody Aerospace a.s L-39NG trainer jet, consists of span wise box section connected by a robot wound fibre layer with one-step curing. The process consists of automated production with no sandwich core structure or secondary bonding.

The second nomination is in 3D Printing category for Compotech’s optimised 3D printed internal beam structure designed for automation and machine dynamic structures. The 3D printed internal structure is automatically optimised and tailored to improve the static and dynamic properties of CFRP beams.

The third nomination is Compotech’s milling tool and tool holder in composite material in Industry & Equipment category. The milling tools and tool holders from hybrid composite steel material have been developed with Hofmeister SRO. The result is reduced weight and increase in the damping of the tool which increases the speed and accuracy of machining.

“Being finalists, in not one but three categories is a proud achievement. It’s a great reflection of the innovative composite solutions we provide to our customers. While always striving for high quality and cutting-edge design to achieve the best structural and weight performance in our projects,” said Ondrej Uher, director of RnD, Compotech. (PC)
