Newport, UK-based Red Composites Ltd, Europe’s leading manufacturer of carbon and glass fibre Towpregs, has secured qualification and long-term supply agreements for use of its products at Draeger Safety Ltd. The Blyth, UK-based Draeger will utilise Towpregs to manufacture composite cylinders for self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).

Composite tanks are a critical component to supply wearers such as firefighters with breathable air.

"Draeger is a globally recognised name in the field of safety technology. We are immensely proud to have our composite products incorporated into demanding, critical-to-life applications," said Red Composites managing director Jeremy Dolby.

"Red Composites have demonstrated a high level of technical expertise and capability. I am sure that Draeger and Red Composites are now going to have a long business relationship together," said Peter Kirby, purchasing manager at Draeger Safety.
