Three new Sanitized® product innovations were presented at PLAST2012: A new generation of silver technology with greater efficiency, environmentally friendly antimicrobial solutions for biodegradable plastics in agriculture and PVC with bio-based softeners. Saving resources and sustainability are two elementary aspects, which drive SANITIZED AG researchers in the development of innovations:

New silver generation with faster effectivenessand with less use of active ingredients.

SANITIZED AG researchers were successful in the further development with multiple benefits: The new generation of antimicrobial silver-based additives has a faster effectiveness despite a lower active ingredient concentration. The basis for this patented technology is a small silver particle, which is encapsulated in a glass-ceramic material. Because of its process stability, it is perfectly suited for the manufacture of masterbatches and can be worked into practically all plastics. Through the flexibility and durability of the material, a whole new range of application possibilities opens up: Furniture coatings, vinyl flooring, carpet fibers, bed covers, mattresses, filler material, cleaning tools such as brushes, mops or cloths, as well as medical applications.

Premiere: Long-lasting protection for PVC with bio-based softeners.

Bio-based softeners are now fashionable: Environmentally friendly, bio-based softeners can lower CO2 emissions in the manufacture of PVC products up to 40 %. Since they are completely biodegradable and largely made from plants, they are also at risk of microbial infestation. SANITIZED AG has successfully developed long-lasting protection for this type of article—a technological breakthrough. Ecologically friendly PVC compounds can be used for a wide range of applications from automobile interiors to vinyl flooring, wall coverings, cloth coatings, as well as wire and cable applications, shoe manufacturing, or in medical technology and food packaging.

Specific protection for biodegradable plastics in agriculture

SANITIZED AG offers a new, pioneering solution for extending the useful life while retaining biodegradability of the protective foil made from renewable or biodegradable raw materials widely used in agriculture. In particular, PLA foil (polylactic acid) can be individually 'tuned' for a desired service life with specific performance characteristics. Seedlings and young plants are effectively protected. This individualization of the finishing makes a concrete contribution to improved quality and greater earnings for farmers.
