Japan's Toray announces executive personnel changes

Toray Industries has announced that its board of directors meeting has approved the executive personnel changes. The changes are expected to become effective following the resolution at the board of directors meeting after the 142nd ordinary general meeting of shareholders scheduled at the end of June 2023.

Chairman Akihiro Nikkaku will take charge as the president and representative member of the board while president Mitsuo Ohya will be appointed as the new executive vice president and representative member of the board, the company said in a press release.

Ohya graduated from the Faculty of Law at Keio University in 1980 and joined the company in the same year. He worked his way up through various positions. In 2009, he became the general manager of the industrial and textile fibres division.

In 2012, Mitsuo was appointed vice president and member of the board. He retired from his vice president position in 2014 but took on the role of president and representative member of the board at Toray International, Inc. In 2016, he was promoted to senior vice president, becoming a member of the board and member of the executive committee. Finally, in 2020, Mitsuo Ohya was appointed executive vice president and representative member of the board.
