JEC World, the international composites trade show to be held from March 3 to 5, will bring together decision-makers of the end-use industries from around the world in several conferences and discussions. The sessions will focus on automotive, aerospace, and sports and health industries, and cover issues relating to composites in these strategic sectors.

Each day, decision-makers using composites will come together to discuss the latest developments in composites in their respective sectors. Large international firms like ArianeGroup, GE Aviation, Embraer, VoltAero, Ford Motor Company, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, Porsche, Volkswagen, Corima, Look Cycle or Össur will be presenting their solutions.

The purpose of these sessions is to share with these decision-makers the latest trends and innovations in the entire value chain of composites.

Through the “Executive Guided Tours”, selected participants will be able to explore the subjects addressed in exclusive, made-to-measure visits to the trade fair and the Innovation Planet of each sector, punctuated by encounters with innovative exhibitors.

Over the course of JEC World, each day will be devoted to a specific industry and its use of composites. On March 3, talks will focus on aerospace and centre on the theme “Towards a more sustainable strategy”. The topics such as aircraft weight reduction, recyclability of materials in the composites industry, and waste reduction will be addressed.

On March 4, discussions will give prominence to the automotive industry with the central theme “The right material in the right place”. The topics of cost-performance ratios and multi-material solutions will be discussed. March 5, the discussions will focus on the sports and health industries with the theme “The Composites Trifecta: Design Flexibility, Performance, and Comfort”. The issues of ratios between weight, lightness and safety, rigidity optimisation, and athletes’ individual needs for tailor-made solutions will be examined.

Inventor and entrepreneur Franky Zapata, ‘the Flying Man’, will be one of the star speakers at JEC World 2020. As the CEO and founder of the company that bears his name, he became known for his famed crossing of the English Channel in August 2019 on his Flyboard Air. He will deliver a keynote speech in ‘Back to the Future: Flying Man Becoming Real – How I Built the Flyboard’.

Representatives from major industries that use composites will also be in attendance. Hervé Gilibert, CTO of ArianeGroup, will lead a conference on the JEC Industry Programme for the aerospace sector, ‘Towards a More Sustainable Strategy’.

Alan Banks, UK innovations supervisor at Ford Motor Company, will deliver his keynote speech for the JEC Industry Programme regarding the automotive sector, ‘The Right Material in the Right Place’.

High-performance athletes will also share their experiences. These include solo sailor Thomas Coville, together with his technical coordinator Elie Canivenc, who will be representing Team Sodebo Voile, and wheelchair tennis player Stéphane Houdet who will be giving a presentation as part of the sports and health JEC Industry Programme titled: ‘The Composites Trifecta: Design Flexibility, Performance and Comfort’.
