Mountain Hardwear, which makes equipment for climbers, mountaineers, and outdoor athletes, has unveiled a new ski collection, extending its partnership with Gore-Tex. The collection, which uses Gore-Tex C-Knit and Windstopper technologies and both 2L and 3L shell fabrics, has been created using feedback from locals at different mountain towns.

Mountain Hardwear’s first ever creation with Gore-Tex was Exposure Jacket.

Steve Adams, product line manager of Outerwear, states: “Our new Gore-Tex collection represents an everlasting commitment to building the best products possible.”

“The goal was to build a ski collection that not only felt authentic to the Mountain Hardwear brand but was driven by the needs of real users whose lives are built around racking up as many days as possible on the mountain,” adds creative director Paxton Madison. “To do this, we reached out to a variety of locals at different mountain towns; conducted interviews; looked through their closets; and got a feel for the way they approached the kits they used for different modes of skiing.”

As Mountain Hardwear designers took this feedback to the drawing board, they honed in on the deliberate mentality required of snow enthusiasts both on and off the mountain. Madison says, “When you live in a ski town for the winter, you will no doubt encounter all different types of scenarios and conditions during the season. With these hardcore locals as our point of inspiration, we were able to build a ski collection that was focused on providing durability, breathability, and equipment compatibility with a variety of textiles and levels of insulation to cover the wide variety of conditions encountered in a typical season."

With real users’ insight as inspiration, in addition to Gore technology, Mountain Hardwear offers its most robust collection yet. The High Exposure assortment, for instance, is the lightest 3L Gore-Tex ski shell in the line; it’s made with C-Knit to provide a stretchy, durable and waterproof solution with unparalleled breathability for aerobic activities like searching for untouched powder in the backcountry. The Boundary Ridge Jacket and Bib utilises 100 per cent recycled 3L Goe-Tex waterproof breathable shell fabric with reinforcement in key areas for ultimate durability and wet-weather protection through the burliest of storms.

“Regardless of where the snow takes you and what conditions you encounter on the way, when it comes to equipment designed to keep you outdoors,” says Adams, “Mountain Hardwear’s got gear for every side of the mountain.”
