The National Institute of Design (NID) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ahmedabad Textile Industry's Research Association (ATIRA) for establishment of a Materials and Product Innovation Centre (MAPIC). The association will also help in exchange of information and sharing of essential facilities between both the organisations.

Situated at ATIRA, MAPIC will boost the research activities at the institutions. The main focus will be carrying out research on advanced composite materials that is used in various fields including automobiles, construction and healthcare among others, said media reports.

Experts will strengthen educational programmes at both the institutions while continuously improving and enhancing the ability to create what does not already exist. (RR)
