PFAFF Industriesysteme und Maschinen GmbH held the groundbreaking ceremony of its new KSL plant recently located in the Stubenwald/Bensheim commercial zone of Germany. With this, the company has led the way for further expansion of high-tech system solutions for the automated processing of technical textiles, composites, etc sold under the KSL brand.

The new 8,000 sqm-facility (5,000 sqm production hall and an administration building featuring 3,000 sqm across 3 floors), will increase the jobs from currently 100 to 160 highly-qualified employees, said PFFAF in a media statement. PFAFF is a 100 per cent subsidiary of the DA Group (Dürkopp Adler AG, Bielefeld) who is the developer of the project. The DA Group in turn is part of the ShangGong Group Co, Ltd (Shanghai) with 3,500 employees in 22 locations worldwide.

Following the scheduled completion in late 2019, the latest CNC-sewing systems, 3D-sewing robots, multi-needle systems and fully automated production lines that are increasingly demanded by the customers in the automation context are to be developed, manufactured and marketed in the new location. The core of the new facility is the ‘Laboratory’, a competence center that is unique in the industry and acts as an interface between complex customer inquiries and the robot and CNC-technologies. The investment in the new building totals €10 million.

“With this new building we make it clear that we will continue to force and expand the technological leadership regarding automation, CNC and robotics,” said Alfred Wadle, chairman of the management board of PFAFF Industriesysteme und Maschinen GmbH. (PC)
