Bostik sets up non-wovens production plant in Egypt

April 26, 2012 - Egypt

Bostik, which manufactures personal care and hygiene products like non-woven diapers, wipes, tissues and towels, has inaugurated its global non-wovens manufacturing unit in Egypt’s capital Cairo.

The setting up of the latest plant by Bostik follows establishment of manufacturing facilities in Egypt by other non-wovens manufacturers like Pegas and RKW.

The race to set up non-wovens plants in Egypt began with the announcement by Procter & Gamble to construct a new diaper production factory in Egypt with an investment of US$ 176 million, as a part of its localization strategy.

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region has a population of 325 million and hence there is huge scope for growth in non-wovens usage per capita in this region.

It is being perceived that the consumption of hygienic disposables is going to get a boost with increase in literacy and spread of information.

Bostik is credited with pioneering a technology of specific adhesive for personal care and hygiene in the 1960s.
