Seminar on Advantages and Prospects of Protective Agrotextiles

Textile Commissioner & SASMIRA in association with Indian Jute Industries’ Research Association (IJIRA) and Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya - Kalyani is organizing one day seminar on ‘Protective Agrotextiles - Advantages & Future Prospects” at IJIRA Auditorium, Kolkata on March 22, 2012.

Objective of this event is to generate awareness about the potential of agrotextile products; highlight the present global and domestic scenario of agrotextile industry; disseminate information on entrepreneurship in agrotextile; emphasise on the infrastructural requirement and the incentives from the government and financial institute for usage; increase awareness about the application of agrotextiles amongst end user industry and highlight the Indian research on agrotextiles and activities of COE (Centre of Excellence) agrotextiles.

Distinguish personalities who will attend the inaugural address are Dr. Prabir Ray, Director, IJIRA ; Mr MH Doshi and Mr IP Poddar - SASMIRA; Mr DC Baheti - Chairman, IJIRA Mr AB Joshi, Textile Commissioner Mr Atri Bhattacharya, Jute Commissioner and Mr Sujit Gulati - Joint Secretary, Ministry of Textiles.

The event will have two technical sessions. Technical session-I will emphasize on the global and domestic scenario of Agrotextiles while session – II will discuss on various developments in Agrotextiles.

Mr Ajay Pandit, Dy Director, Textile Commissioner’s office will give information on government incentives for Agrotextiles. Ms TS Raji Gain, GM - NABARD will give ideas on how to get incentives and avail of loans from banks and Mr Partha Sanyal from IJIRA will share information about different jute based Agrotextiles available in the market.

This session will also discuss on different manufacturing process of agrotextiles. Mr. Amit Agarwal, CTM Technical Textiles will discuss the manufacturing process of shade nets. Mr Pramod Gogia of Garware Wall Ropes will discuss on manufacturing process of fishing nets and Ms Jyotika Nagari of Shree Ambika Polymers Pvt. Ltd will discuss the manufacturing of ground covers.
