US auto interiors producer picks Alexium’s FR technology

August 29, 2014 - United States Of America

A major US-based automotive interiors producer will on a trial basis, apply the fire-retardant chemistry technology developed and marketed by Alexium International Group, to the fabrics it offers to automobile manufacturers.

The statement from Alexium did not name the supplier of fabrics used in automobile interiors but said it has a 35% share in the US alone and its customers include the likes of Ford, GM, Chrysler, Nissan, Honda, Toyota and Volkswagen.

The statement added that the buyer which has a strong reputation, with production facilities in the US, Brazil, UK, China, Korea and Japan, will initially treat one of their headline fabrics with Alexium’s FR Polytron.

“There is also further potential for four other similar fabrics to be treated with Polytron, that each represents around 100,000 yards per year,” Alexium said.

“We are very pleased that we can announce a key relationship in the US and stand validated that our products can be directly used in fast-moving markets”, CEO at Alexium, Nicholas Clark said.

“This opportunity also places Alexium directly in the vertical manufacturing pipeline, which gives us direct visibility with end users. We will be able to use this experience to place ourselves in a similar position in other textile markets”, he informed.

Alexium feels, the agreement by a major company to purchase its FR chemistry for a commercial production run is a significant sales contract and sets it well on the route towards substantially increasing its revenues.

Given the customer's 35% market share in the US alone, this provides significant upside for Alexium to increase volumes and win further contracts, it noted.
