February 02, 2015 - Finland

Nonwovens producer Suominen has launched Hydraspun Dispersible Plus, a new range of flushable substrates for the global wipes market.

Hydraspun Dispersible Plus substrates break up over three times faster than the standard Hydraspun Dispersible and pass the INDA/EDANA third edition flushability assessment test protocol.

Kyra Dorsey, product manager said, “It is wonderful to bring to the global wipes market an innovation which is the result of understanding the consumer needs and expectations of municipal wastewater systems.”

Suominen said it has also filed a patent for the range of products.

Suominen invented the first commercial flushable product in the late 1990s to offer a replacement to non-flushable materials like paper towels and baby wipes which are commonly flushed by the consumer.

Suominen manufactures nonwovens as roll goods for wipes as well as for medical and hygiene products.

The end products made of Suominen’s nonwovens like wet wipes, feminine care products and swabs bring added value to the daily life of consumers worldwide.

Suominen is the market leader in nonwovens for wipes and employs approximately 600 people in Europe and in the Americas.

Suominen’s net sales in 2013 amounted to MEUR 373.7 and operating profit excluding non-recurring items totaled to MEUR 19.4 from continuing operations. (AR)
