Scott Bader named approved composites supplier by Daimler

March 25, 2015 - United Kingdom

Scott Bader said it has become an approved composites materials supplier of moulding and structural adhesive products to all of the global production facilities of the Daimler AG Group.

“This includes Mercedes-Benz Cars, Daimler Trucks, Mercedes-Benz Vans and Daimler Buses divisions,” a Scott Bader press release informed by saying.

A more recently approved FRP lamination products supplied includes Scott Bader’s unique technology 'ultra-low styrene content' Crystic Ecogel S1PA spray gelcoat.

This spray gelcoat, according to Scott Bader, helps reduce styrene emission levels in Daimler factories without any loss of end use application performance.

“Closed mould grades of Crystic unsaturated polyester resins are also supplied to the Daimler AG Group and approved subcontract convertors fabricating composite vehicle parts,” it added.

Within Daimler Trucks, Crestabond M1-05 primer less methacrylate structural adhesive is now specified for a variety of HGV applications.

This includes M1-05 being used to bond ABS to ABS and ABS to aluminium components together as part of the assembly process used to fabricate the sleeping bunk in the driver’s cab.

The bonding of these ABS and aluminium bunk parts with Crestabond M1-05 is carried out by a local subcontract thermoforming specialist, which supplies assembled bunks for Freightliner trucks.

Freightliner Trucks is the largest business division of Daimler Trucks North America and it produces medium and heavy duty trucks at its production plants in the United States and Mexico. (AR)
