ContiTech shows new sports shoe fabric at Techtextil expo

May 15, 2015 - Germany

Germany firm, ContiTech, presented a new shoe fabric, Ceraprene, at the recent Frankfurt expo, Techtextil.

Ceraprene is made from highly resistant rubber compounds that are water-repellent and optionally also waterproof. Ceraprene is highly flexible even at very low temperatures and so does not restrict movement of the foot or adversely affect wear comfort. Good ozone resistance gives the footwear a long service life, the company said in a statement.

With high the manufacturing quality, the material is highly colourfast and does not fade even after intensive use. Ceraprene is available in various colours and surface finishes, depending on the customer’s design concept. The shoe material is free from substances such as chromium, cadmium, and tributyltin hydride (TBT), in accordance with the relevant DIN standards.

ContiTech’s elastomer textile Ceraprene offers optimum wear comfort in any situation and is ideal for safety shoes, trekking shoes, soccer boots, and tennis shoes. The elastomer textile is only coated on hydrophobic nonwoven fabric.

Rodrigo Maia, head of the engineered coated systems product market segment said, “The excellent material properties set the fabric apart from other materials.” (GK)
