Oerlikon invests in research at Chemnitz technology centre

Systems builder, Oerlikon Barmag has opened the new technology centre at Chemnitz and plans to invest in the research and development at the site.

The 1,600 square metres building at Zwickauer Straße, Chemnitz will be the venue for the development and testing of extrusion systems for tapes and monofilaments along with winding/texturing machines, twisting machines and carbon fibre winders. The place will also be used as a showroom for Oerlikon Barmag innovations, the company said on its website.

The Chemnitz-based Oerlikon Barmag technologies currently comprises of applications for tapes and monofilament yarns. Its applications range from carpet backing fabrics, artificial turf, geotextiles all the way through to the agricultural sector.

As an innovative technology company, all new developments of the market leader for monofilament and tape systems set benchmarks in terms of profitability, process stability and sustainability. The customers of the Chemnitz-based manmade fibre systems builder are spread around the globe. (GK)
