Andritz to supply technology for Fibria’s new pulp mill

August 01, 2015 - Brazil

Andritz will supply all production technologies and equipment for Fibria’s Horizonte 2 pulp mill at its Três Lagoas unit in the state of Mato Grosso.

According to an Andritz press release, the new production line will have an annual pulp production capacity of 1.75 million tons, with start-up scheduled in fourth quarter of 2017.

Combined with its existing capacity, already in operation, the Três Lagoas unit will reach a total annual production capacity of 3 million tons, making it one of the world’s largest eucalyptus pulp production sites.

The scope of supply covers the EPC delivery of the complete fibre line as well as the recovery island, including all relevant process steps.

The Horizonte 2 project is one of the largest private investments in Brazil and will create 40,000 direct and indirect jobs over the two years of construction.

During the peak of construction, the site will have around 10,000 workers and once commissioned, Fibria’s new pulp line will create 3,000 direct and indirect jobs.

This project will be processed by Andtritz’s Pulp and Paper unit, which has a complete portfolio of systems for pulp and paper production, from the wood yard to the finished product.

It offers comprehensive services in support of these customer processes, from replacement parts to complete mill maintenance contracts. (AR)
