Key Safety opens new carbon fibre trim factory in Mexico

September 12, 2015 - Mexico

Key Safety Systems (KSS), a global supplier of advanced engineered safety products for automotive and non automotive markets has commenced production in a new carbon fibre trim factory at Valle Hermoso, Mexico.

“The new operation specialises in producing high quality carbon fibre exterior and interior components with ultra-premium styling themes,” a KSS press release informed.

“This investment serves as an improvement to the business model where the value chain previously relied upon products imported from Italy,” it added.

KSS has already booked several programs with multiple OEM’s that will serve as the start-up platform for the new factory.

The Mexican operation has been modelled after the company’s existing KSS Italia factory in Tregnago, Italy, which currently supplies customers such as Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari and Maserati.

“The carbon trim capability and investment reflects our new level of commitment and presence in the North American market”, said Tony Nardone, president KSS Specialty Products division.

“Having more accessible capacity to offer design flexibility will better serve our customers looking to differentiate their products,” Nardone observed.

KSS supplies safety-critical components to the automotive and non-automotive markets serving the active safety, passive safety and specialty product sectors.

Through highly specialised design, development, and manufacturing, KSS’ technology is featured in more than 300 vehicle models produced by over 60 well-diversified customers worldwide.

KSS is headquartered in Sterling Heights, Michigan, with a global network of 32 sales, engineering, and manufacturing facilities.

The company has five main technical centres located in China, Germany, Japan, South Korea, and the United States. (AR)
