Evonik expanding performance foams capacity

Evonik is investing in expansion of its performance foams capacity at its production facility in Darmstadt, Germany by 20 per cent. The company will be adding new production equipment at the complex of its subsidiary, Evonik Resource Efficiency, with the expanded production capacity expected to be operational by the second half of 2017.

The Darmstadt plant produces Rohacell foam products that are used as a core material in the construction of sandwich composites.

According to the company, the global market for performance foams has shown steady annual growth in the use of composites, as they offer lighter in weight, strong and dependable, plus efficient to manufacture products.

Rohacell is a rigid, structural polymethacrylimide foam used in the design and production of sandwich composites in aerospace, automotive, marine, sports equipment, electronics and medical technology. (AR)
