Advansa develops new microfibre for nonwovens industry

May 22, 2019 - Germany

Leading European fibre producer Advansa has developed a new microfibre which can find application in processes such as needlepunch, spunlace, thermo-bonding and chemical bonding for various end uses. With a diameter of only 8 μm, the new fibre known as AdvaStaple, is very soft, and suitable especially for hygiene products, medical textiles and filtration.

A special surface treatment provides hydrophilicity to the new fibres, ensuring an immediate moisture transport to it, said Advansa in a press release. The fibres are crimped and suitable for dry laid processes. They can be used in contact with food.

Adva is a registered trademark of Advansa and an umbrella brand for its family brands, applicable to all its engineered fibres that include Adva Shortcut, Adva Staple and Adva Tow. As a company, Advansa, is recognised for its wide portfolio of high tech and branded fibres made of diverse polymers. As a leader in innovation, Advansa excels in research and development and is committed to sustainability and the environment in the design of its products and its industrial processes. (PC)
