ICC 2019 will cover innovations in composite market

June 12, 2019 - Germany

From material requirements in ‘New Mobility’ and construction sector to progress in large-scale production of composites components to new markets, the International Composites Conference (ICC) 2019 will cover innovations in the market. It will bring together processors and users of fibre-reinforced plastics from across Europe in Stuttgart from Sept 10-12.

In the exhibition halls, the participants will meet more than 300 exhibitors from 30 countries who will come to Stuttgart to showcase materials, advances in the production and processing of fibre-reinforced plastics, and innovative application examples – in automotive engineering, aerospace, mechanical engineering, construction, wind power, and the sports and leisure sector. Besides new products, a special focus of the trade fair will be on innovative process technologies, according to a press release by ICC.

In plenary sessions at the start of the trade fair on Tuesday, all trade fair and conference visitors will get a current overview of the composites markets in Europe, US and, specifically, UK – this year’s partner country for the conference. Following the market overview will be the keynote presentation titled ‘The future of automobility: insights from transport research’ by Dr. Christine Eisenmann from the German Aerospace Center.

Afterwards, participants will be able to choose lectures from two parallel tracks: Building & Infrastructure or Mobility. On Wednesday, the track choices on the agenda will be thermoplastics or thermosets and later bio-based composites or the process-tech forum.

Thursday at the trade fair will be the day to learn about standardisation in fibre-reinforced plastics as well as about new applications. Closing out the day and the trade fair on Thursday afternoon will be the Young Innovators Poster Session featuring institutes presenting their research.

Guided tours and practical demonstrations in the exhibition halls will round off the conference programme. Themed guided tours centred on composites applications, materials and markets will lead visitors straight to the stands of selected exhibitors ready to explain the latest innovations in fibreglass, thermoplastics, automotive engineering and wind energy.

ICC will take place concurrently with the Composites Europe trade fair this year. The presentation of the AVK Innovation Award on the afternoon of the first trade fair day will mark another highlight this year. (PC)
