Composites UK, the leading, accredited trade association for the UK composites industry, has added an award for start-up business of the year to be presented at the Industry Awards Dinner on October 30, 2019, at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham. The award will celebrate new businesses in the composites supply chain born from innovation.

To qualify the company must be less than two years old. Companies entering the award must demonstrate evidence in its market research, including size, customer profile, and competitor analysis. They should have a clear, innovate business idea backed by a sound business and marketing plan; on-target business and financial performance to date; and an overview of how the business launched and why it is filling a gap in the market.

“We felt it was important to launch this new award to recognise the new companies making strides in our supply chain. We are regularly contacted by start-ups looking for advice or assistance through our business support services and we wanted to give something back to them in recognition of their braveness in starting a new venture,” Claire Whysall, communications manager at Composites UK said in a press release.

The application form to nominate the start-up business is available via the Composites UK website, with the deadline for entries being on August 7, 2019. The 2019 event is sponsored by Zund, Engel, Axillium, Surface Generation, and the Advanced Engineering Show. (GK)
