Global nonwovens trade to touch $43.15 bn in 2021

After registering a decline in 2015 and 2016, the global trade of nonwovens has been shown sharp rise with a high CAGR (compound annual growth rate), according to data from TexPro. The total trade gained by 13.48 per cent in 2018 over the previous year, and it is anticipated to reach $ 43.15 billion in 2021 growing at a CAGR of 10.47 per cent from 2018.

In terms of value, the global trade of nonwovens was $26.22 billion in 2016, which increased to $32.00 billion in 2018 with a growth rate of 22.04 per cent, according to Fibre2Fashion's market analysis tool TexPro.

In terms of volume, the global trade of nonwovens was 10.72 billion tonnes in 2016, which increased to 11.15 billion tonnes in 2018 with a growth rate of 4.05 per cent. The total trade plunged by 18.54 per cent in 2018 compared to the overall trade in 2017. It is anticipated to reach 11.99 billion tonnes in 2021 with a CAGR of 2.00 per cent from 2018.

In terms of value, the global nonwovens export was $13.84 billion in 2016 and reached $18.80 billion in 2018 with a growth rate of 22.66 per cent. The overall nonwovens export moved up by 13.43 per cent in 2018 over the previous year, and it is anticipated to reach $23.06 billion in 2021 with a CAGR of 10.75 per cent from 2018.

The global nonwovens export, in terms of volume, was 3.52 billion tonnes in 2016, and it increased by 16.26 per cent to 4.09 billion tonnes in 2018. The overall nonwovens export rose by 8.73 per cent in 2018 over 2017 exports, and are expected to reach 5.13 billion tonnes in 2021 with a CAGR of 7.82 per cent from 2018.

In value terms, China ($2.95 billion), Germany ($2.14 billion), US ($1.89 billion), Italy ($1.78 billion) and Japan ($0.77 billion) were the key exporters of nonwovens across the globe in 2018, together comprising 56.10 per cent of total export. These were followed by Turkey ($0.59 billion), France ($0.52 billion) and Spain ($0.51 billion).

From 2013 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of export, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Italy (59.49 per cent), China (49.76 per cent) and Japan (18.85 per cent).
